Question of the Day: What Would Make You Start a Revolution?

October 9th sees our feature film, Looking for the Revolution, occupying the day's discussions. Coinciding with the 40th anniversary of Che Guevara's death, the Democracy House is asking our readers what would make you start a revolution?

As an icon of socialist revolutionary struggle, Che Guevara has transcended cultural boundaries to become a symbol of leftist thinking around the world. Shaped in a similar revolutionary mould forty years later is Bolivia's Evo Morales. Besides being the first indigenous Bolivian president, Morales has sparked a crucial debate about the role of socialism in the twenty-first century.

The similarities shared between Morales and Guevara, as revolutionary icons of their respective times, is explored in Rodrigo Vazquez's Looking for the Revolution. Ultimately, the search for the revolution that Che Guevara tried to start in Bolivia is now in Morales’ hands.

In The News

  • The Cape Times discusses the cultural legacy of Che Guevara as well as examines his ambiguous presence in Bolivia's history.
  • The IHT debates the use of Che's image as a fashion icon. "In fact, 40 years after his death Che is as much a marketing tool as an international revolutionary icon. Which raises the question of what exactly does the sheer proliferation of his image - the distant gaze, the scraggly beard and
the beret adorned with a star - mean in a decidedly capitalist world?"
  • A great blog on Bolivia is available at the Democracy Center. Read about Bolivia's trials and tribulations as it negotiates democracy under Evo Morales.

Time Management in The Nano Political Area

Well hello there, ladies and gentlemen, we are the samarium surfers, looking for new wave technology to carry our torch for change. Aren't we dynamic?
So all I can say is we're doing a dam good job of it to, with all the progress that is being realized globally, with new initiatives in wind, solar, water(ie:hydrogen), and similar atomic technologies.
The more we share, the more get's done.
Right now I'm looking for someone who is successfully producing solar powered greenhouses, and or a combo energy system that utilizes, variable energy platforms.
Wouldn't it be interesting to provide such production facilities worldwide so that communities could produce air conditioning as well as heating through a closed, environmentaly friendly recycling facility, like the one recently established near Ottawa, Ontario, called Plasco. Check it out.
By working together political and military leaders will realize that there is room to move and develop a new framework for international cooperation and participation.
Another idea I am thinking about is creating a digital library, of a least most of the really important works, and I was wondering if there is some sort of technology available to create a rapid method of coordinating this activity.
Not only will this type of technology create new employment opportunities, but it will change the way the human race lives by creating a shift in the economy toward a more family friendly lifestyle with greater facilitation of social issues by providing a different type of lifestyle for people, who are more interested in current affairs, exercise, learning, arts, culture, tourism.
This is the purpose of moving toward a world democracy whereby all people are included in a more intelligent and interesting life, that really is balanced, with work, which can just be learning or sharing some information on line, like this, right?
I think that's way more fun than just sitting at a desk doing some meaningless job that computers could be programmed to do.
The new frontier sure smells sweet to me, and I know we are heading for the clear, visible and transparent world of time shared together.
Democracy is really a vision of domestic peace and tranquillity. (also sometimes known as heavenly bliss)
With continued negotiation, and movement toward one international and united kingdom, there will be happiness for all people, who share one human spirit, through the breath of God.

Kill the media, the

Kill the media, the revolution will start in a month and everyone will be involved pro actively.
