Why Democracy? shines at TIFF 2007

Last week saw Why Democracy? well-represented and very well-received at TIFF 2007. Why Democracy? was the focus of one of the Doc Talk series with Thom Powers where Nick Fraser and Mette Hoffman-Meyer presented the project, showing clips from 9 of the films and giving insight into the challenges of such an ambitious and groundbreaking documentary film initiative.

Three Why Democracy? films screened at the festival - Please Vote For Me, Dinner With The President, and Iron Ladies of Liberia - as part of the Reel to Real programme, which presents the best in non-fiction cinema from around the globe.

The directors of Iron Ladies of Liberia, Daniel Junge and Siatta Scott Johnson, took part in a Q and A after the screening of their film - and received a standing ovation!
